WHAT TO WRITE: A QUICK GUIDE TO BLOG CONTENT

“A major part of what we do at Bear Paw is educate our clients about marketing. “

A blog is a great way to connect and communicate with your potential clients/customers. But blogs can be intimidating. They take time and work to create and maintain. Many business owners want to write a blog but struggle to come up with consistent content for it.

What do you write? How do you frame it? What type of content will create the most value? These questions can be tough to answer for many business owners. That’s why there are so many themed list blogs out there. It’s also why so many business owners start a blog only to abandon it a few months later.

A major part of what we do at Bear Paw Creative is educate our clients about marketing. So for this blog, we wanted to help you with what content to create for your blog. Nothing too complicated. Just a simple set of easy to execute content ideas that can provide you with a great jumping-off point for your blog.

With that in mind, here’s a quick list of five incredibly successful types of blog content you can use to boost your website, enhance your authority, and drive business.

EXPERTISE PIECES

Authority marketing is a powerful thing. Many of the leading names in leadership, business, finance, and other industries use authority marketing as a powerful piece of their brand identity. Most of them use books or well-established media channels, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use the same technique.

Your blog provides you with a powerful tool for authority marketing. It’s a chance to share your expertise and skills with others. There are a few ways you can do this. Share your expert opinion on current events and trends in your industry. Share your philosophies and best practices. Ask interesting questions in your field. Don’t be afraid to get out there and share what you know.

You’re the expert after all.

GUIDES & TUTORIALS

What’s something your target client/customer needs help with? Something you could show them how to do? Believe it or not your clients have simple problems they could solve on their own with a little help from you. Creating guides and tutorials to help them is a great way to establish a working relationship and provide value for them in their time of need.

Providing them with this kind of help also establishes you as the authority. Maybe they won’t be doing business for you with these smaller problems. But, if you provide them with the tools they need now, the odds are much greater they will come to you in the future with their business.

RESOURCES (CHECKLISTS, INFOGRAPHICS, TEMPLATES, ETC.)

These types of resource blogs are a tighter, more convenient version of the guides and tutorials. Granted, they won’t be able to cover the same amount of depth as the previous concept. Still, creating a convenient checklist, solid infographics, or a template for your clients based on your services and expertise is a great way to create some immediate, actionable value for your clients/customers. It’s also a great way to repurpose bits and pieces from your other blogs into newer bits of content.

GUEST POSTS

Working with other experts in related fields can help drive more traffic to your site as well as expose you to new audiences. These experts provide unique insights to your audience and help to establish you as a leader in your field. That translates to more value for your audience. Guest blog posts also take the pressure off of you in creating content and can provide valuable strategic partnerships.

Additionally, it’s also great for guest bloggers, helping them increase their authority and exposure. Consider other professionals whose blogs you find valuable. Or take some time to seek out experts who might be able to help. Don’t be afraid to ask and connect. You’d be surprised how many people are out there willing to help.

YOUR STORY

Your story is a powerful tool for content marketing. During your journey as a business owner, you’ve learned many lessons. You’ve triumphed in the face of adversity, pivoted in trying times, and even suffered your share of failures. Those experiences can help others on their own journeys. They also help to humanize you and your business, providing a deeper level of connection than is achieved through standard marketing messages.

Your story is unique to you. Don’t be afraid to share it. It’s a great way to create even more value…and maybe make a friend or two.
